The
Spoor family of Whickham began as "keelmen" (boatmen transporting
coal down the River Tyne). Methodist evangelism took hold with Joseph,
whose name is still commemorated in the chapel on the hill. His sister
Jane was also a noted preacher, until crippled by an accident. |
