In Walmer Castle, Kent, hangs a portrait of the Captain, with the following legend:

THIS PORTRAIT OF CAPTAIN GEORGE WESTCOTT WHO FELL ON BOARD HIS [SHIP] MAJESTIC OF 74 GUNS, BRAVELY DEFENDING THE HONOUR OF THE BRITISH FLAG IN THE EVER MEMORABLE VICTORY OF THE NILE ON THE 1ST DAY OF AUGUST 1798,

IS RESPECTFULLY INSCRIBED TO THE RIGHT HON. THE HONOURABLE ADMIRAL NELSON AND THE SURVIVING OFFICERS OF HIS LORDSHIP'S FLEET (BY GEORGE RILEY).
