Douglas Campbell (1912--2007):
Journal of Hill Walks, Large and Small
After his mountaineering days were over, Douglas was still an avid hill walker. As Duncan and Allison grew, so these weekend excursions by the family became a frequent source of exercise and "fresh air". Outings were documented in handwritten notes and, weather permitting, by photographs. .
One surviving notebook, covering the period 1957-1992, has been transcribed for inclusion in this web page. It describes 90 walks, the majority of which were made in Scotland. Other occasional locations include Denmark, South Africa, Ceylon and USA.
