This bible was found in a house in Swalwell by a descendant of its original owners. It is leather-bound, measuring 17 x 11 x 3¾ inches. The printer was M. Brown, Flesh-Market, Newcastle-upon-Tyne; the publication date is not clear in this photograph (apparently late 18th century).

A gilt-ornamented label records: "CHARLES & ISABELLA SPOOR 1801". Charles, born 1755, was the eldest son of William Spoor and Hannah Tate. The couple were married in Whickham in 1784.

Two generations of family members were recorded in a fine pen and ink script. This information has been independently corroborated with the IGI online parish register extractions.
