"The Earnest Preacher"

 
Reverend Joseph Spoor — Primitive Methodist minister and evangelist — was born in Whickham in 1813. This memoir was written by a personal friend, shortly after Joseph's death in 1869.  Beyond the purely biographical details, its descriptions of living conditions and spiritual toils help to document an era in the social history of North-East England.
 
Re-discovered by SPOOR family historians, the book returns to "print" in a new electronic format, dedicated to our forebear's memory.
