Dear John

I cannot express how sorry I felt when I recieved the intimation of your dear wifes death and not knowing that she was ill. trusting you will have devine support in your great sorrow. I should have written on Saterday as soon as I got the note but was not iqil to it. I have been very poorly ever since Christmas and have not been able to get back to Bristol where I live with Weardale. I have been here with Fanny since a year gone March. she joins me in kind sympathy to you and your daughter Anne also Mrs Eccles. Yours very Sincerely
